Fee Fido Fo Fum

Hello! Hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday weekend. If you're looking for ideas, the National Trust has just added to its list of 50 things to do before you're 11 and 3/4. 

We started the week by making some beautiful rainbow necklaces! We had to carefully draw anti-clockwise circles around different sized tubs, and carefully cut around our circles. 

Then it got tricky! We had to put them in size order, punch a hole and thread them onto a necklace.

We talked a lot about instructions, what they meant, and why we needed to remember them! Maybe your butterfly can give you the instructions to make a rainbow necklace together?

In the afternoon we got busy with our Maths jobs. We have been practising simple addition using objects and pictures to add two groups together.

Several children had mentioned wanting to learn about pets.. so it was time to bring a special visitor to our class!

She was a very friendly Labrador! She was so excited to be in our classroom that her tail was wagging and wagging! 

The butterflies sat very nicely to make sure that we didn't frighten her. Well done!

The butterflies had some questions to ask! We wanted to know why she was furry, what her claws and teeth were for.. and all about how she went to the bathroom!

Then it was our turn to give her a cuddle!

She was very soft, and very kind. What a lovely pet!

We got busy making houses for pets that we might like to have.

They need something comfy to sleep on!

The next day we had to tiptoe into the class because a different type of pet had come to visit. The dog was boisterous and friendly, but this pet was much smaller and very timid! 

It was a miniature cat! 

We made her a place to stay in the buddleia room so that she wouldn't be too frightened.

It was a good thing that Miss Hutchinson changed back into a human in time to bring her pet in!

Cats are my favourite pet. What type of animal would you like?

After we had thought all about how to look after different types of animals, it was time to open our pet shop. 

One puppy? That will be £10, let me write you a receipt.

Our own class pets had to stay in their small tank for a little while longer.

Mrs Creighton had gotten some water from the pond to move them to the sand pit. A little creature had decided he wanted to come to stay with us too.

It's a dragonfly nymph! Although it's not very nice at the moment it will become a beautiful dragonfly, just like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly! 

I was hoping to keep it until it became a dragonfly, but I have just found out that can take up to four years! We will have to find somewhere else for it to live.

We have been doing a lot of our work outside this week. In Maths, some of the butterflies made skittles with numbers on them. Once the paint had dried, we took them outside to play! You had to knock some down, then add up your points to work out your score.

The butterflies were very good at taking turns.

Then it was time for a very special afternoon! Thank you to all the grown ups who came in to share learning journeys.

We will be swimming again on Tuesday this week, lease put your butterflies swimming kit on their peg in the morning. We are after Red Admiral parents to help, so please tell Miss Whitelock or Mrs Harris if you would be able to help.
