Welcome back to the butterfly blog!

 

This week, we carried on thinking about mini beasts and healthy eating!

 

The best way to learn about minibeasts, is by having a good look! That meant it was time for an adventure!

 

We packed up everything we thought we would need to be mini beast explorers and headed down to the nature area.

 

We were so excited that we ran all the way there!

 

 

We know that mini beasts like to hide in dark, damp places so we carefull picked up a log.

 

 

There were lots of wiggly squiggly things living underneath it! Lots of the butterflies were braver than the teachers, and held them in their hands.

Can you remember what we found? There was a red mini beast and a green mini beast that surprised us!

 

We had a think about where else we might find some tiny creatures. The very hungry caterpillar taught us that minibeasts like to eat leaves. It was time for a closer inspection.

 

We had such a lot of sun doing our busy jobs outside in the nature area. Writing becomes much more of an experience when you do it sitting under s tree!

The next day our friend from ASDA came to visit again! She had bought lots of strange things for us to taste! We all agreed that the pineapple smelt horrible, but tasted delicious.

 

 

It's nearly as big as your head!

 

We have been thinking of lots of fun ways to show what we know about maths.

 

In this game, the butterflies had to pick a number, double it, and make that many legs! Once their legs were on they could crawl through the mini beast tunnel!

 

The butterflies love experiemtning with different textures. They used gloopy gluey paint to create beautiful dragon fly wings. By the end of the day, all sorts of textures had made their way into the paint.,. including some mud!

 

We went on a mini beast hunt around the classroom, finding some sneaky creatures that had made their way inside! We found them all over the place, and write messages to tell the teachers where they were hiding.

On Friday, we had a very special day.

 

The Red Amirals had finally fille up their marble jar, so it was time for a

LOLLY POP PARTY!

 

We chopped up some fruit and pushed it on to a lolly pop stick.

 

 

Then we dipped it in chocolate and sprinkles.

 

 Then.. we gobbled it up!

 

 

Out healthy fruit wasn't so healthy by the time we finished.. but it sure was delicious!

In the afternoon, we went to the hall to play some games.

 

Miss Whitelock tried to cheat by teaching her butterflies some tactics!

We loved this game and hope to play it with our Grandpas, Uncles and Dads for Father's day!

 

I wonder if the butterflies will win?

 

 

After all that, it was time for another celebration! We have had lots of bithdays recently and the butterflies are very grateful for all the treats that they have been given.

 

And that was it! The week was over, and it was time for another holilday.

 

When we get back, swimming will be on a Friday afternoon. We are still looking for helpers, especially from the Red Admirals. If you would be free to help out, please let us know!
