Let's get planting!

We have started to learn about growing and planting. We have done a lot of our busy jobs outside this week and enjoyed the lovely weather.

As the weather improves please send in a named sunhat and apply suncream before school. The once a day application creams are ideal.

In Mathematics this week we have been ordering numbers to 20. Here are some butterflies concentrating hard to put their numbers in the correct order.

What is one more than 7?
What is 1 less than 4?
You can ask your butterflies these questions in the car or on the walk home from school. Make it a game- can they ask you questions and give you number puzzles?

How long is your snake? We used the snakes to compare lengths.

Can you find something that is longer than a pencil and shorter than a pencil?
Which is longest or shortest?

Some of us have been weighing. We had to estimate with our hands two items. "I think this one is heaviest. "
We tested our estimates by using the scales.

If you go shopping this weekend can you weigh out some fruit or vegetables with the scales.
Can you do some cooking at home and weigh out the ingredients?

We all worked as a team and spring cleaned our playground ready to get planting.

Can you tidy up your garden at home- sweeping, weeding....?

What a fantastic castle! These butterflies worked as a team and created their own model castle.

On Friday Sabrina from ASDA came to help us plant our vegetable boxes. We have planted broad beans and salad vegetables.

We used our hands to make a little hole for the bean.

Cover up the bean with soil. It needs to stay nice and warm under the soil.

We had a really close look at the beans and seeds- their size, shape and colour.

Some of us found some old roots that we had to pull out.

We found a few mini beasts hiding in the soil too! Can you remember what they were?

For our circle time this week we had to switch our brain boxes on and think about food that is healthy and unhealthy. We had a selection of food to sort and talk about why it was healthy or unhealthy.

Can you tell your grown up how many portions of fruit and vegetables you need each day?

One butterfly had a birthday and her Mum made a very delicious chocolate birthday cake.We all had a piece and talked about how it was a treat and we would have extra fruit at home and brush our teeth really well!

Mrs Bruce came to see us at the end of the day and brought a friend with her! The Holly Blue butterflies have won the attendance bear! Last week we had 100% attendance, that means everyone was here everyday! Well done Holly Blues!
Red Admirals can you get him next week? Make sure you come to school on time and everyday and we will see!

Monday is our Creative day- Please ensure you have returned your slip and £2.50 we don't want you to miss out! Thank you to everyone who has.

Tuesday- swimmimg for everyone. please remove earrings and no tights!

Friday 2.45pm Come and join your butterfly and share their Learning Journey with them. If you came for the last session you are welcome again and please return the sheet about your child's interests at home.
