A burglary in the butterfly class!

We've been learning all about people who help us in the butterfly classroom, and this week we focussed on fire fighters and the police! 

Miss Whitelock tried ever so hard to get the real police and fire rescue to come and talk to us, but they couldn't make it ):

So we had to make everything our selves! First, we built our own fire truck. Lots of children worked together to build it, and many went home covered in red paint!

When we came into school the next day, there was a burning house in the classroom full of people that needed to be rescued!

Luckily, the fire brigade were close at hand! We made walkie talkies and used them to talk to the people in the house to try and get them out safely!

We knew that the people in the burning house were in danger, so we made a road that went directly to the hospital, then made an ambulance to take them there quickly!

Once at the hospital, the children learned the skills that Mrs Cobb taught them to care for the people that had been rescued from the fire!

We also had fun getting our hands messy in 'fire extinguisher' foam!

We even built our own station to keep the fire engines in.

After all that excitement it was time to learn about the police. When we got to school on Wednesday we found out that the laptops had been stolen! There were some clues left behind and it was up to us to work out what happened.

Miss Whitelock showed us how to write down the clues in a clue book, and we investigated anything that we thought might be important to solve the mystery!

We had lots of ideas and had a good chat with each other to see if we could decide what had happened.

Miss Whitelock suddenly realised that Mrs Amphlet looked a little bit "shady"! We knew we needed to question her to see if she was the culprit! We learnt how to use the recordable microphones to do an interview.

After Miss Whitelock took Mrs Amphlet's finger prints, it was time for us to get investigating! Who could have taken the lap tops and why?! We looked carefully at each others finger prints to see if they matched the prints left behind by the thief.

Luckily, the police quickly arrived to help us with our investigation!

On Friday, the laptops suddenly appeared back! I wonder what happened? Do you think you can put the clues together and solve the mystery?

We have started learning about the 'golden rules' in r time. Ask your child if they can remember which golden rule they learnt this week! We hope that these lessons stick with them throughout their school lives and help them to be caring towards each other.

We will finally start our Christmas topic next week! The teachers stayed late on Friday night changing the classroom around, so hopefully there will be some nice surprises in the classroom on Monday :)
