Careers day.

A much shorter post this week!

Our main topic for this week was people who help us. Before we got there, we had to have quick Christmas detour to get our display done in main school. Mrs Chandarana was very happy to finally be getting the glitter out!

We spent two days working hard to make all of the bits and pieces we needed for a super display. Well done to all the butterflies who worked so carefully on their stitching, our board looks beautiful! It's on show for everyone to see next to the library.

The butterflies have been really brave in PE! Some of our butterflies even climbed over the big A frame! 

My goodness! I can't believe the butterflies who swung on the monkey bars! I couldn't do that as a little girl.

We were so impressed that next week we will be getting out the blue wall bars!

We opened up a really fun role play this week. The teachers showed us how to use it by acting out a visit to the doctors. We all thought it was very very funny! The children have been using it really nicely; writing down appointments, fixing each others broken bones, and writing out prescriptions.

We had a really exciting day on Wednesday when some of our grown ups came in to teach about their jobs. Thank you so much to the people who came in! It was really wonderful and the children have been talking about it all week. 

One Mummy was a nurse! She showed us a blood pressure machine and we learnt all about how our hearts pump blood around our body. The children thought it was great fun to have a bandage put on them. They used their new skill in the role play.

 We had a visit from another nurse, who helps people who are poorly in a different way. She taught us that some people find every day things really difficult, and that her job is to talk to them and try and help them understand why they feel that way. It got the butterflies thinking about something they hadn't thought about before, and helped us understand some of the challenges that other children face.

Our last visitor was someone that the butterflies are starting to know really well! Mr Bailey came to tell us about his job as a Vicar. Lots of the butterflies know what happens at a Mosque, and how special the Qur'an is, so it was lovely to find out the different things that happen in a church, and the different ways that Mr Bailey helps the community.

In the butterfly classroom, we try and make learning as fun as we possibly can. One group of butterflies spent their maths lessons chasing after naughty bears that kept escaping! We ran about finding the bears, jumping up the ladders, drawing on the playground and counting, counting, counting!

We had a very special treat on Friday! A lady from the blue cross came to see us and bought her dog Gip. Gip was very soft and friendly! She let us pet her and rolled over to have her tummy rubbed.

Then we went out side to see Gip do some tricks! She could fetch, and sit, and was a super good listener. 

Some of us were a bit worried about the dog, but after we saw how nice she was we asked if we could go and pet her.

Well done butterflies! She was a very nice dog and said that she would come back and see us again another day!

We are making changes to the time table at the moment, and have finally found a space for R time. It's a time for special group work where we think about our friends and how important they are.

We all wrote our names on a piece of gold paper and made a friendship chain.

 Then, we joined all of our chains together to make a really long chain! It was taller than the tallest butterfly! It was very precious to us, and represented the strong bonds that we've made with each other in the class. We are going to hang it up somewhere in the classroom where we can all see it. 

Thank you to all of the grown ups who made this week as wonderful as it was! We're carrying on with people who help us next week before we start throwing the glitter around again.
