Christmas glitter time!

Christmas is almost here and we are in full party swing in the butterfly classroom! We've hardly been in class at all this week, it's been so exciting!

Next Thursday is our special carol afternoon, where all the grown ups are invited to come and sing with us. We have been hard at work practicing and Miss Whitelock has introduced us to another instrument! This guitar is a bit bigger than Delilah the ukulele!

We have spent all week learning the story of Jesus and what this story means to Christians. On Tuesday we even went to see the nativity! All the butterflies sat so nicely and we really enjoyed the songs and dances! Our favourite part was when the stars came down off of the stage into the audience.

On Thursday we saw a very different type of Christmas play. The pantomime was so much fun! We got to do a lot of shouting! Some times, we got so excited that we forgot we were supposed to be sitting down.

 (If you haven't been to a pantomime yet this year I really suggest you go. Watching the children's faces during the play has been one of my highlights from the year! They really were enraptured.)

"HE'S BEHIND YOU!"

 In the afternoon, we had another special lesson. We wrote our letters to Santa in phonics classes, and filled them with Mrs Chandarana's special Christmas glitter. Once they were finished, and the address stuck on, it was time to take them to the post box to send them to Father Christmas himself. We all went to the shop and bought a stamp. 

Then we stuck the stamp on and left it for the post man. We loved putting a letter in the post box!

Our special afternoon wasn't finished yet, it was time to go to the church to have the Christmas story. Reverend Bailey welcomed us at the door, and we gasped as we walked into the beautiful church hall.

We were allowed to light the advent candles with a special long match so that we didn't have to get too close. The purple candles get lit one at a time on the Sunday's leading up to Christmas, and the white candle is saved for Jesus's birthday!

 Mrs Bailey had written a special version of the nativity designed just for us! It was called we're going on a Jesus hunt, and had lots of actions for us to join in with.

Then we were invited to build the nativity scene with Mr Bailey, adding the characters one at a time and talking about who they were. We should hopefully be able to tell the story to our grown ups now! Have a test and see!

On Friday we had a lot of treats to say thank you for being so sensible in a busy busy week. The very best treat was the sparkle and shine disco! It was a bit noisy when we first got in, but soon we realised that it was a lot of fun to jump in a circle with our friends! Even our shyest children had a great time, grabbing their friends hands and having a boogie! 

 There was a man making balloon swords too! It was very, very exciting, as you can see from these pictures!

We had a visit from a carpenter too so that we could learn exactly what it was that Joseph did, but I can't seem to find the photos right now! I will update when I come across them!

 Next week is going to be even busier. It is full steam ahead until the holidays so make sure you have a nice restful weekend.
