School's Out For Summer!

Welcome to the last update on the butterfly blog!

I hope that you are all enjoying your holidays and having lots of fun in the sun.

Lets have a look at what happened in the last week in the butterfly classroom.

Mrs Harris, Miss Bishop and Mrs Chandarana were working very hard to tidy up our huge cupboard! We found lots of toys we hadn't played with in a while. The children were thrilled!

They made a big line for the rocking horse, and used a timer to make sure everyone had a go. They worked together to rock the horse for each other too! What lovely friends they're all become.



At break time, there was a special treat! One of the Mummies brought us some delicious fruits. There were peaches, cherries, apples.

We got into groups with our friends and shared them all out.

Much better than tomatoes!

The children decided that they wanted to learn about the circus as their last topic.

One butterfly told me "if there's a circus, there's got to be clowns!" So we got busy making noses and shoes.

Send in the clowns!

Mrs Chandarana taught us how to juggle. It was tricky work!

Miss Creighton helped us make balloon animals. The children were so excited to take them home!

We had stilt walkers....

...and Miss Whitelock showed us how to do poi.

What a lovely morning!

Then it was time to run out all of our energy because we had something very serious and important to do later on.

Duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck....GOOSE!

We all came together into a gigantic circle to play in and out the dusty bluebells. More and more children joined on the end of the line, winding in and out. Our train was so long by the end that we kept getting ourselves in a tangle! It was very funny.

Then, we came into the classroom to a fanfare because it was time for....

Graduation!

Each butterfly came to the front and was told what was on their medal, and why they'd been given it.

The butterflies were so proud of themselves, and so we were!

Then there were only two medals to give out! A big congratulations to Miss Bishop and Mrs Lambart for passing their college courses. Hooray!

After all that super serious and sensible sitting for our very important ceremony, it was time to jump about, run and do a lot of screaming at our splish splash water party!

We were all wet through, Mrs Creighton was right to say bring spare pants! It was so much fun though, we highly recommend you have one over the holidays.

The week was full of surprises and the butterflies found it most exciting when Ravi came back to tell us about his adventure! When they knew he had arrived you could hear them chanting "RAVI! RAVI! RAVI!" in the playground. It was like we had a real celebrity!

The children were fascinated by everything he said, it was so exciting to see where zebras really live, and see the pictures of Ravi above the clouds! We learnt so much from his experience and gave him a big cheer for coming back safely from his dangerous expedition! 

On the very last day, Miss Whitelock played us a song on her ukulele and sang to us. We're so lucky to have such a talented and beautiful teacher... and also she's really super cool, and so modest! 

Mrs Creighton took the opportunity to sneak in and give Miss Whitelock a thank you present for finishing her very first year as a teacher! 

What's it going to be....?

Her very own story sack! Now she's really part of the team! Then that was it, Miss Whitelock spent the rest of the day crying and crying because she's been so lucky to have such a wonderful staff and class, and such lovely understanding parents to support her through this year!

Thank you so much for being a part of the butterfly classroom. We hope that your butterfly has had a wonderful year. We cant wait to see them succeed in year one and throughout school.
