What an active week we have had!
We started the week by practising all our skills for Sports day and then on Wednesady we got to show them off.
Unfortunately there are no photographs of the children doing sports day as we were all busy taking part!
We did get some photographs of the fantastic grown ups who took part.
Thank you to all the grown ups who came to support the children. It was lovely to see the grown ups cheering and encouraging the children to persevere and improve their skills. The butterflies did very well and there are some photographs of the teams later.
We managed to persuade some Dads and Mums to take part in the egg and spoon race.
We even set up a finish tape!
On your marks, get set, go!
It was great to see everyone take part and the butterflies really enjoyed it!
Some of the grown ups felt the egg and spoon race was too easy so we thought they may enjoy a three legged race!
Well done to those brave Dads who took part.
Mrs Creighton with her China team and their medals.
Miss Whitelock with Great Britain!
Mrs Harris and Finland!
Mrs Jooshab and Miss Bishop with their happy team and a very clever little brother!
Mrs Lambat and a team of winners.
Mrs Chandarana and Mrs Worrall with their team of champions!
A big well done to everyone who took part and came to support us.
Brookside celebrated its 40th birthday this week and as part of the celebrations we all made a chocolate birthday cake. We all helped to make it, taking it in turns to weigh out ingredients, cream and beat the mixture.
Can you tell your grown up what ingredients we used?
If you can't remember look in your recipe book that came home on friday. In the book are all the recipes for the things the butterflies have cooked at school.
Can you try and make some at home?
We set a timer for 40minutes and then Mrs Worrall checked to see if it was cooked.
Can you remember how I checked to see if it was cooked?
Remember the oven is very hot so you always need a grown up to help you.
We then had fun making chocolate icing and decorating it. We all had a turn at choosing some sprinkles to decorate the top.
On Friday lunchtime we had a picnic on the field with all of the school. We were so lucky that the sun was shining on us. We found some shade to sit under.
Please remember to send your butterfly with a named sun hat and sun cream applied before they come to school.
It was lovely to sit and share our lunch together.
Who did you sit with?
After we had finished our picnic we played some games with year 3. We taught them how to play the upside down, right way up game!
We won both times, well done butterflies!
You should have received your childs report, if there is anything that you are not sure about please come and see us.
On Monday afternoon the children will be visiting their new class and meeting their new teachers. I know the Year 1 teachers have lovely activities planned. Throughout the week the Year 1 staff will be popping in to read stories and get to know the butterflies.
We have some lovely fun activities planned for the last week of term. We will make sure we make the most of our last week with the super learners. We are doing circus skills, water play, Graduation and many more!
Goodbye and toodle oo!

We'd love to hear what you and your butterfly think about their learning...
